Julie Chiu recently retired as a senior lecturer specializing in the humanities at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she served as Deputy Director of the General Education Foundation Programme. She is co-editor and translator of the story anthology Loud Sparrows: Contemporary Chinese Short-Shorts (Columbia University Press 2006).
